Press Release/Press Release Detail

Since its establishment by the Leaders of ASEAN in 2003, ASEAN Business Advisory Council has been committed in promoting public-private sector partnership and consultation to assist the integration of an ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015.

In its efforts to bridge ASEAN Governments with the private sectors, the Council launched the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) in 2007 to recognise enterprises that has contributed to the growth and prosperity of the ASEAN economy. Since then, the annual Awards have recognised more than 60 companies throughout the region; considered as the ‘Most Admired ASEAN Enterprises’ and excelling in the categories of Large Company and MSMEs

ABA was conceived to be the first of its kind in the region, with the dual objectives of showcasing home grown ASEAN companies that have become role models for other aspiring companies, as well as providing a spotlight for promising ASEAN small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that have the potential to be global players.

This year’s ABA has been restructured to reflect the changes in the global as well as ASEAN regional economic developments. ABA 2014 will continue to highlight the Large Companies and MSMEs in the region. For greater Inclusivity, awards in both categories have been expanded. The Large category coversCorporate Excellence, Innovation and ASEAN Centrality while the MSME category extends to Micro, Small and Medium size companies, Young Entrepreneurs and Women Business Leaders. There will be national winners in each category in each country, who will then compete on the regional level to become the coveted ASEAN Champions in each category.

To ensure the high-quality and independency of such a prestigious award, ASEAN BAC has engaged KPMG as the Strategic Partner. KPMG will administer the implementation of the nominations, assessments and selections; as well as assist in promoting the event throughout the ASEAN region.

Companies shortlisted by the Strategic Partner will be brought to the attention of an independent judging panel comprising of top leaders from the fields of academia and public service from ASEAN countries.

Awards will be presented at the Gala Dinner of the 2014 ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN BIS), scheduled to be held in November 2014 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

Companies are invited to apply starting from 1-May-2014 through on line applications from the ASEAN BAC website (www.asean-bac.org). Only on-line applications will be accepted and the closing date will be June 30th, 2014.
